BERAKAS GARISON, 7 TO 10 MAR 2016 – 77 Squadron (School of Air Defence) of Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) conducted an exercise pertaining to air defence operation over a span of three days involving six air regiment officers for their Air Defense Young Officer’s Course (ADYO). The exercise commenced with detachment front early in the morning, and 1120 Lt (U) Nurul Hasimah binti Zaidi as the first officer squadron orders at the start of the exercise.
The next phase of the exercise involves mistral deployment situated on the hills at the Jerudong International School (JIS) area led by 1130 Lt (U) Azime bin Hj Ahmad as the Detachment Commander. The exercise enabled the officers to apply the knowledge they have acquired thus far throughout the entire course. Exercise Ketua Anak Panah was designed to test not only the officer’s physical fitness but also their ability and confidence in delivering orders, deployment sequence and leadership skills in striving towards the end goal of the exercise.
Exercise Ketua Anak Panah was deemed a success because it proved to be a useful stepping stone for troop commanders, as quoted by 1129 Lt (U) Ak Md Hassanal bin Pg Ali Sham, “Challenges I encountered throughout the exercise has given me the useful skills and knowledge before I get posted back to my squadron. It has made me realize that I am always capable of doing more even under mental and physical pressure and there are times when I have to make quick decisions because the situation demands it”. Thus, the skills and thinking tools in decision-making, delivery of orders and in field operations in handling Air Defense’s Weapon System has proved to be intrinsic to an indispensable learning experience.
LATIHAN KETUA ANAK PANAH
Berakas Garison, 7-10 Mac 2016 – Skuadron 77 (Sekolah Pertahanan Udara) Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB) telah menjalankan satu latihan operasi pertahanan udara selama tiga hari melibatkan enam orang pegawai rejimen udara yang menjalani krusus “Air Defence Young Officer”(ADYO). Latihan ini dimulakan dengan ‘Front Detachment’ pada awal pagi Isnin 7 mac 2016 yang diketuai oleh 1120 Lt (U) Nurul Hasimah binti Zaidi sebagai pegawai pertama skuadron menyampaikan perintah pada permulaan latihan.
Latihan ini melibatkan penempatan mistral terletak di atas bukit di kawasan Jerudong International School (JIS) yang diketuai oleh 1130 Lt (U) Azime bin Hj Ahmad sebagai Detachment Commander. Langkah ini membolehkan pegawai-pegawai kursus mengaplikasikan pengetahuan yang dipelajari setakat ini di dalam kelas agar dapat dibuat secara praktikal. Latihan Ketua Anak Panah ini dibuat untuk menguji bukan sahaja kecergasan fizikal pegawai itu tetapi juga keupayaan dan keyakinan mereka untuk menyampaikan perintah dan kemahiran kepimpinan dalam berusaha ke arah matlamat akhir latihan itu.
Latihan Ketua Anak Panah dianggap berjaya kerana ia terbukti menjadi batu loncatan berguna untuk ketua terup, seperti yang dipetik oleh 1129 Lt (U) Ak Md Hassanal bin Pengiran Ali Sham, “Cabaran yang saya temui sepanjang latihan telah memberikan kemahiran dan ilmu yang berguna sebelum saya dihantar semula ke skuadron saya. Ia telah membuat saya sedar bahawa saya haruslah sentiasa mampu melakukan apa saja halangan yang diberikan walaupun dibawah tekanan mental dan fizikal dan ada kalanya saya perlu membuat keputusan yang cepat didalam keadaan memerlukan “.
Oleh itu, kemahiran dan cara berfikir dalam membuat keputusan, didalam operasi dalam mengendalikan Sistem Senjata Pertahanan Udara telah terbukti menjadi intrinsik kepada pengalaman pembelajaran semasa kursus tersebut dijalankan.
