COMMANDER OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

​​​​ BRIGADIER GENERAL (U) HAJI HASZAHAIDI BIN HAJI AHMAD DAUD, S.M.B., P.S.B., MNSS, MPPM, EPPI, FELLOW OF DSSC, GDSS, PSC (J), QHI​

Brigadier General (U) Haji Haszahaidi bin Haji Ahmad Daud was appointed as the 16th Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) on 10 January 2025. Previously, he served as the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, a role he assumed on 01 April 2022.

He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 24 May 1994 after graduating from the Royal Air Force (RAF) College Cranwell, United Kingdom, in 1995. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in July 1995. His early career started as a student pilot and was posted to No. 3 Squadron/Flying Training School to begin his flying training.

After completing his Basic Fixed-Wing training at No 3 Squadron, Training Wing, Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) in 1998, Brigadier General (U) Haji Haszahaidi bin Haji Ahmad Daud was then posted to No 2 Squadron to fly the Bolkow BO 105 as an Operational Helicopter Pilot. Years later, he attended the Helicopter Instructor Course (HIC) at Sembawang Air Base, Singapore Air Force. After graduating as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor in 2003, he returned to No 2 Squadron, Operation Wing, as an Instructor. A year later, he was appointed as Flight Commander Training. In October 2006, he was appointed as Officer Commanding to command No 2 Squadron until the end of March 2009, then posted to No. 3 Squadron/Flying Training Wing School as an Officer Commanding and Helicopter Examiner for Basic Helicopter Trainees.

Brigadier General (U) Haji Haszahaidi bin Haji Ahmad Daud has held various staff and command appointments, which include Staff Officer 2 (J3A) and Staff Officer 1 (J3A) at Joint Force Headquarters. In 2013, he was posted back to RBAirF, where he was appointed as Commanding Officer for Training Wing. In 2014, he was appointed as Head of the Inspectorate Unit. He assumed the appointment of Commander Operation Group in July 2018 before being posted to the Training Institute, RBAF in October 2020 as Commandant.

He is married to Hajah Rosnah bte Haji Matamit and is blessed with three children, Hajah Dina Qistina, Haji Muhammad Danish Qawi, and Dhia Qaireen.​

DEPUTY COMMANDER OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

COLONEL (U) PENGIRAN HASRUL ARIFFIN BIN PENGIRAN HAJI ROSLEY

Colonel (U) Pengiran Hasrul Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Rosley is the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force and has held this post since 21st November 2025 after his appointment as Commander of Support Group, RBAirF. He started off from humble beginnings, enlisting into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 20th August 1995, who then later became an Officer Cadet on 1st March 1996.

Ever since his enlistment into the military, he has been on track to become highly involved in the engineering field and has travelled far and wide to become properly qualified and well versed for the posts he would fill throughout his tour within the RBAirF. He attended his cadet course whilst pursuing his degree and in 2001, he graduated with an Aeronautical Engineering degree from Akademi Tentera Malaysia or later known as Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia. He later continued his learning phase by attending a 3 month On the Job Training (OJT) at the Canadian Force Base in Edmonton, Canada with the 408 Squadron followed by an 8-month Aerospace Engineering Officer Basic Course at the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering in Borden, Canada.

Upon his return from Canada, he commenced his engineering tour across several squadrons within the RBAirF, beginning with No. 5 Squadron and subsequently undertaking a concurrent appointment as Engineering Officer for No. 4 Squadron a year later. In 2004, he served as the Deployment Engineering Officer leading the engineering detachment to Acheh for the Tsunami Operasi Badai Berlalu.

He was appointed Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Deputy Minister of Defence (DMOD) in 2006 for a period of two years before returning to his parent unit as the Officer Commanding Engineering Support Flight (OC ESF). From 2014 to 2016, he served at RBAirF Headquarters as Staff Officer Grade 2 (SO2) Maintenance/Logistics, overseeing engineering sustainment and logistical support functions for the service.

In 2016, he assumed command as the Commanding Officer of No. 5 Wing, before being appointed RBAirF Chief of Staff in 2019. On 1 November 2021, he subsequently took up the role of Commander of the Support Group.

Throughout his years of service, Colonel (U) Pengiran Hasrul Ariffin has been involved in various efforts to improve the engineering department and the organisation as a whole namely, upgrading the avionics system for RBAirF’s fleet, accomplishing an in-house C-Check for CN235, one of the major inspections for CN235, and some other modernization and upgrade of aircrew’s safety equipment. He attended his Junior Staff College and his Command Staff College in 2007 and 2013 respectively, at the RBAF Defence Academy Staff College and obtained a postgrad diploma in International Security from Massey University, New Zealand in the same year (2013). In August 2022, he graduated with a Master of Public Policy and Management distinction from the University of Brunei Darussalam with a twinning program at the McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University, Washington DC. He was also a recipient of the Book Award for his outstanding achievement.

Colonel (U) Pengiran Hasrul Ariffin is happily married to Hajjah Hadijah binti Awg Md Nor and they are blessed with 5 sons: Ak Mohammad Haziq Amsyar, Ak Muhammad Asyraf Hannan, Ak Muhammad Afeef Hamizan, Ak Muhammad Haikal Aqmar and Ak Muhammad Azfar Hasyimi. In the midst of all the responsibilities, he is also quite active outside of the office as he enjoys playing football and mountain biking.

 

COMMANDER OPERATIONS GROUP OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

​​​​LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) PG MOHD ZULHUSMI BIN PG MOHD ROSLAN

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi Bin Pg Mohd Roslan began his career with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in 2003 and completed his six-month Basic Military Training at the RBAF Training Institute, Penanjong that same year. He was later commissioned after completing his Initial Officer Training at the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell, United Kingdom, where he was awarded Best Foreign Commonwealth Officer.

He then underwent Basic Flying Training with the Royal Brunei Air Force in 2005 before being posted to his operational flying squadron, No. 1 Squadron, in 2007. Throughout his career as a pilot, he has flown the Pilatus PC-7MKII, Bell 206B Jet Ranger, Bell 212, CT-4B and CASA CN-235 aircraft. In 2009, he completed his Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) course at BAE Systems, Australia, and returned to instruct on the PC-7MKII. He was also awarded the qualification of Formation Aerobatic Leader from the Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS) in 2011.

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi has held various appointments starting with Operational Helicopter Pilot in 2007, Qualified Fixed-Wing Instructor (QFI) in 2009, Flight Commander Training (FCT) in 2010, Officer Commanding No. 63 Squadron Flying Training School in 2014, Officer Commanding (OC) No. 15 Squadron in 2017, Fixed-Wing Standards, RBAirF (2nd Post) in 2017, Directing Staff at the Leadership and Management Centre, Defence Academy RBAF in 2019, and 2IC No. 7 Wing, RBAirF in 2020. He later assumed command as Commanding Officer No. 7 Wing, RBAirF from Feb 2021 to Jan 2024, during which he also served as Exercise Director for Exercise Alap-Alap. He subsequently served as Head of Aviation Standards & Evaluation, RBAirF from Jan 2022 to Oct 2025, before assuming his current appointment as Commander Operations Group, Royal Brunei Air Force on 10 Oct 2025.

Throughout his service, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi has attended numerous courses both locally and abroad and has represented the RBAirF in a range of international conferences, seminars, forums, and exercises. His career highlights include participation in the Brunei Darussalam National Plan of Action for IUU, ASEAN Air Chiefs’ Conference (Singapore), Global Air Chiefs’ Conference (UK), Asia-Pacific Aviation Safety SME Course (US), Asia-Pacific Regional EEZ, ACDFIM, and ADMM-Plus HADR/MMEX. He also represented Brunei Darussalam as Head of Delegation for the ASEAN Air Force Education and Training (AAFET) Working Group, strengthening regional cooperation and capacity building across ASEAN Air Forces.

Staff training includes the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Junior Staff Course in 2013 and the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, Singapore in 2019. During his time in Singapore, he obtained his Graduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and completed a Strategic Communications Course with the Singapore Management University (SMU). In 2024, he completed the Executive Development Programme (EDP) for Senior Government Officials (SGO), SHHBIDSS, and delivered by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS), where he was awarded Top Student and Best Policy Paper.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi is married to Viviana-Fernanda Afonso Binti Metussin and is blessed with one son, Ak Mohd Rafael.​​

COMMANDER SUPPORT GROUP OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) PENGIRAN MOHAMED KHAIRUL ARIFIN BIN PENGIRAN HAJI MOHAMAD SALLEH

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pengiran Mohamed Khairul Arifin bin Pengiran Haji Mohamad Salleh enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 24 January 2000 and later commissioned as a Lieutenant on the 19 July 2001 after graduating from Royal Air Force (RAF) Cranwell, United Kingdom. ​​

Beginning of his career, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pengiran Mohamed Khairul Arifin served in the Logistics Wing (now known as No. 5 Wing) as the Engineering Officer for the Pilatus PC7 MkII and Bell 206B. He later moved on to different squadrons, working on the Bell 212 and Bolkow 105 aircraft until 2010. In February 2010 until October 2011, he was appointed as the Officer Commanding for 65 Squadron or Air Technical Training School (now known as No. 75 Squadron) in the Training Wing. In 2013, he returned to Logistics Wing and held the Senior Engineering Officer (SEngO) and Officer Commanding of Engineering Support Flight (ESF) posts. In July 2017, he was appointed as the Staff Officer Grade 1 for Maintenance Department in the Directorate of Logistics, Ministry of Defence. In September 2020, he was entrusted with the appointment of Staff Officer Grade 1 Personnel at the Directorate of Personnel, Ministry of Defence. He returned to the Royal Brunei Air Force in December 2022, assuming command as the Commanding Officer of No. 5 Wing, also known as the Maintenance Wing. He was subsequently appointed as the Commandant of Training Group on 16 December 2024, before assuming his current appointment as Commander of Support Group, effective 03 January 2026.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pengiran Mohamed Khairul Arifin is an engineer by trade, looking after military aircraft and managing aircraft technicians. He hold a Bachelor Engineering (Honours) degree since 1999 and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (HRM) since 2013, from the United Kingdom. Later in 2016, he completed his Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Development (HRD) and became an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (Assoc CIPD) from the United Kingdom.

Besides attending symposiums and participating in military exercises, he also attended both local and overseas courses. His professional military education includes Basic Manpower course, Engineering Specialist Training (EST), Intermediate Logistics Management course (ILMC), International Aviation Safety Officer (IASO) course and Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO).

He is married to Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Norinda binti Hj Tengah and blessed with a daughter and two sons. He likes to exercise and can be seen running and going to the gymnasium weekly.

HEAD OF INSPECTORATE UNIT ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) MOHAMAD FAZLEY BIN HASABULLAH​​​

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Mohamad Fazley bin Hasabullah was appointed as the Head of Inspectorate Unit on 10 October 2025. He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in May 2004 after graduating from Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College with an academic qualification of GCE Cambridge ‘O’ level. 

He was then commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant from SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI) in 2006. His early career started as Troop Officer at 233 Squadron, No 2 Wing in 2006. Subsequently, he continued his career at No 2 Wing as Troop Commander at 238 Squadron and 236 Squadron.  In 2010, he started Basic Flying Training and Basic Helicopter Training and later he joined 11 Squadron, No 1 Wing in 2012 to pursue his operational flying career on Sikorsky Blackhawk S70-i. 

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Mohamad Fazley’s military education includes completing his RBAF Junior Staff Course in 2016 and received a Graduate Diploma in Defense and Security Studies from Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Brunei Darussalam during his RBAF Command and Staff Course in 2020. Upon completion, he was selected as one of the recipients of the inaugural OBOE Endeavour Award, an Academic Excellence Program from the Australian Government, awarded to RBAF Officers who have graduated with outstanding results during the Command and Staff Course. 

During his career, he has held several staff appointments in the RBAF, amongst them are Staff Officer Grade 1 Force Capability Development (Air) at the Directorate of Force Capability Development, Ministry of Defence from 2022 to 2024, Squadron Commander of 11 Squadron, No 1 Wing from 2020 to 2022, Staff Officer Grade 2 A3 2019 to 2020 and Flight Commanding Officer of 11 Squadron from 2017 to 2019.  

He is married to Siti Khadijah binti Kafli and blessed with 2 children. 

CHIEF OF STAFF, ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) MOHD HAIRY ERWANDY BIN HAJI RAYA

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Mohd Hairy Erwandy was commissioned on 3 September 1999 after completing his Initial Officer Training (IOT) No 179 at the Royal Air Force (RAF) College, Cranwell in the United Kingdom (UK).

After completion of his basic flying training, he then spent most of his flying career as a CN235 pilot (since 2003) at No 5 Sqn where he assumed the Flight Commander Training (FCT) post in 2011, and thereafter, as Officer Commanding (OC) in 2013. To date, he holds the record of the most flying hours on type (2842 hours). He is certified as an Instructor Operating Station (IOS) Level D Full Flight Simulator Training by Sapura Defence, Malaysia in 2008 and completed his Qualified Fixed-Wing Instructor’s (QFI) Course at Flight Training Tamworth (FTT), Australia in 2009. He is also a qualified Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) obtained from Flight Test Center Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) in 2016.

His operational experiences include; regional transport missions such as International Monitoring Team (IMT) in Mindanao, Philippines; and as one of the crew for Brunei Darussalam’s first Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation codenamed ‘Ops Badai Berlalu’ for the Boxing day Tsunami in Banda Aceh, Republic Indonesia in 2005. He also participated as the Air Mission Commander (AMC) for another HADR mission: Haiyan Typhoon in Tacloban, Philippines in 2013.

His career appointments included being Commanding Officer (CO) No 7 Wing (2017-2019), Staff Officer 1 Staff Duties/ Doctrine in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) (Dec 2019 to July 2020). At that same period, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff (COS) for RBAF Task Force Support (TFS) COVID-19. He was then appointed as Defence Adviser of the UK (2020-2023). Upon his return, he assumed the post as Assistant Chief of Staff A7 (Training) commencing from July 2023. However, this tour was also short-lived as he was appointed as Commander Operations Group (COG) from 23 January 2024 until 9 October 2025. He has since taken over as Chief of Staff (COS), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Headquarters commencing 21 November 2025.

His staff training includes; the 8th RBAF Junior Staff Course (JSC) (2008), and the Defence Academy (DA) RBAF Command and Staff College (CSC) 5th cohort (2015) where he achieved the RBAF Commendation Award and took the opportunity to complete a Master’s Degree in International Security (Mint’lSy) facilitated by Massey University, New Zealand (2016). He then completed his Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officials (EDP SGO) in 2019.

He is married to Aliza and they have four (4) wonderful children; Hafiz (2002), Danish (2003), Dania (2005) and Zaara (2020). Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hairy enjoys mountain biking, running and football in his pastime.

WING COMMANDING OFFICERS

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 1 WING

MAJOR (U) EMAD HAMDI BIN HAJI SAWAL

Major (U) Emad Hamdi bin Haji Sawal was appointed as the Commanding Officer of No. 1 Wing on 3 October 2025. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in July 2011 upon graduating from Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) where he was awarded as Best Academic.

 He first completed his Basic Flying Training with the Royal Brunei Air Force as a Student Pilot at No. 63 Squadron, Training Wing and continued to do his Basic Helicopter Training at BAE Systems in Tamworth, Australia in 2013. In 2017, Major (U) Emad became a Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) after completing Helicopter Instructor Course with the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Throughout his career, he has held various appointments such as Operational Helicopter Pilot at both 11 and 14 Squadron as well as Flying Instructor Rotary Wing, Flight Commander Training and Squadron Commander of 11 Squadron, No. 1 Wing, Operations Group Royal Brunei Air Force.

As part of his professional development, Major (U) Emad attended the Intermediate Staff Course, Defence Academy RBAF in 2019 where he was awarded with Best Commander RBAF’s Paper Award. In 2024, he went on to complete the Advanced Command and Staff Course (Joint) from New Zealand Defence Force Command and Staff College. Upon graduation of this course, he graduated with a Master of Strategic Studies (MSS) with Merit from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

Major (U) Emad is married to Nurqamarina Fakhriah binti Hj Alim Saidi and they are blessed with one daughter, Nur Fatimah ‘Elliyeen.

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 2 WING

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) MUHAMMAD ADIF BIN HAJI ZAMAN

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhd Adif bin Hj Zaman embarked on his journey with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in 2005, starting as part of the 27th Intake of Boyswing at the RBAF Training Institute, where he completed his ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels education. In 2009, he joined the Officer Cadet School in Brunei, becoming part of its 2nd Intake. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and posted to the Training Wing of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), now known as No. 7th Wing RBAirF, where he took on administrative responsibilities.

By 2011, he had advanced to the role of Troop Commander of 238 Squadron, No. 2 Wing, Operations Group, RBAirF. He also served as the Admin Officer for No. 2 Wing, Operations Group, RBAirF. His leadership abilities were further recognized in June 2015 when he was appointed Wing Commander at the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy RBAF, a position he held for four years. In July 2019, he transitioned to a staffing role as Staff Officer Grade 3 (Personnel & Administration) at RBAirF headquarters.

His career highlights include serving on an overseas mission, namely the International Monitoring Team (IMT-17) as Staff Officer Grade 2 Operations for the Brunei Darussalam Contingent between October 2020 and April 2022. This mission provided him with invaluable military experience and opportunities for professional growth. Following his return in April 2022, he assumed command of one of the air defense squadrons in No. 2 Wing, now known as Squadron 233, No. 2 Wing, which specializes in operating drones and drone jammers.

Throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhd Adif has reached numerous milestones and continuously sought professional development. In 2010, he completed the Platoon Commander Course at the School of Infantry, Royal Brunei Land Force, which was crucial for his understanding of military unit leadership. He also completed the Air Defense Young Officer Course at RBAirF and the Ground Based Air Defence Young Officer Course in the United Kingdom, where he acquired advanced knowledge in air defense strategies and techniques.

Additionally, he completed the Intermediate Staff Course (ISC) in 2020 and the Command and Staff Course (CSC) in 2023 at the Defence Academy of the RBAF, underscoring his commitment to leadership and strategic planning.

He was awarded The Most Meritorious Service Medal (P.J.K) in 2024. In 2022, he received the Military Merit Medal, Military Civic Action Medal, and Military Commendation Medal from the Republic of the Philippines.​

He is married to Lieutenant Commander Norlaila binti Major (Retired) Awang Harlip, and he enjoys golfing and running during his free time.

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 3 WING

MAJOR (U) MUHAMMAD ISYHAK BIN HAJI ISMAIL

Major (U) Muhammad Isyhak bin Haji Ismail was appointed as the Commanding Officer of No. 3 Wing on 3rd October 2025. He enlisted in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 25th September 2009 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in July 2010 upon graduating from Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

In the beginning of his career, Major (U) Muhammad Isyhak began as a Troop Officer with 33 Squadron in the Air Regiment (currently designated as 233 Squadron, No. 2 Wing). He further progressed in the Air Regiment as Troop Commander of 238 Squadron in 2012. In 2013, he expanded his expertise by transitioning to an instructional role, serving as Wing Commander at the Officer Cadet School until 2016. In 2015, he attended the Air Force Training Centre in Paya Lebar, Singapore, where he completed the 23rd Ground Based Air Defence Air Warfare Officer course. After returning to No. 2 Wing in 2016, he took on the position of Second-in-Command of 238 Squadron until 2017. He then served as Officer Commanding of 77 Squadron, Training Wing, until 2021. Major (U) Muhammad Isyhak held the role of Officer Commanding of 238 Squadron of No. 2 Wing until 2023, subsequently becoming Staff Officer Grade 2, A5 Cell at the Royal Brunei Air Force Headquarters until 2025.

Major (U) Muhammad Isyhak’s military education encompasses the completion of the RBAF Junior Staff Course in 2016. He earned a Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies from the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Brunei Darussalam, during the RBAF Command and Staff Course in 2022. In recognition of his exemplary service, he was honoured with the Excellence Service Medal by His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam in 2023.

Major (U) Muhammad Isyhak is happily married to Wafa Nabilah binti Abdullah and blessed with two daughters and two sons. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and running to maintain his fitness.

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 5 WING

​MAJOR (U) ARIF SYAZWI BIN HAJI MD IDRIS


Major (U) Arif Syazwi bin Haji Md Idris assumed command as Wing Commander of No. 5 Wing on 16 December 2024. He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and was appointed as an Officer Cadet on 26 May 2008, upon receiving the RBAF Scholarship to attend the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). He holds the distinction of being the first Bruneian graduate of USAFA, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering on 23 May 2012 and subsequently being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF). His foundational training as an RBAirF Engineering Officer continued at the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering, Royal Air Force Cosford, United Kingdom, where he completed the Engineer Officer Foundation Training (Aerosystems), preparing him for the demands of Air Force engineering.
 
Upon his return, he served as Engineering Officer with No. 55 Squadron and subsequently with No. 51 Squadron. His experience leading maintenance squadrons of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft demonstrates a consistent and notable advancement as an Engineering Officer within the RBAirF. His career also includes staff appointments as OIC Engineering Standards Cell and Staff Officer Grade 2 in the Inspectorate Unit RBAirF. These appointments provided valuable experience, solidifying his understanding of Air Force maintenance operations and honing his leadership, strategic thinking, and organisational skills, complementing his technical expertise.
 
He then returned to No. 5 Wing, where he served in senior engineering positions, including OC Engineering Support Squadron and Senior Engineering Officer, eventually assuming command of the Wing.
 
For his professional development, Major (U) Arif attended the Junior Staff Course (JSC) in 2018 and the Command and Staff Course (CSC) in 2022 at the Defence Academy RBAF. After completing his CSC, he was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies and also received the prestigious OBOE Endeavour Award from the Australian Government, a distinction granted to outstanding graduates of the RBAF Command and Staff Course. These courses further developed the advanced leadership and strategic thinking skills essential for his current command.
 
Beyond his military duties, Major (U) Arif is a devoted family man. He is married to Nur Amni binti Mat Serudin, and they have two children. This personal commitment adds another dimension to the portrait of a dedicated officer, balancing the demands of service with the joys and responsibilities of family life.
COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 6 WING

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) HAJI ASBI BIN HAJI AWANG ANUAR

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Asbi bin Haji Awang Anuar enlisted in the RBAF in June 2002 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2004 after completing Officer Cadet Training with the Royal Australian Air Force at Laverton Base, Australia. He is presently serving as Commanding Officer No. 6 Wing, Support Group, where he is responsible for overseeing comprehensive support services including finance, transport, workshop, security and medical units, as well as infrastructure maintenance and facility operations across satellite locations of the Airbase installations to ensure airbase readiness, security and operational effectiveness.

In the early stages of his commissioned service, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Asbi served as Troop Commander in the Base Defence Squadron from 2004 to 2010. In 2009, he completed Platoon Commander training with the RBAF Training Institute, followed by the Junior Regiment Officers’ Course in 2010. He was subsequently appointed Squadron Training Officer in 2011 and was posted as Penolong Pegawai Turus Administration and Personnel RBAirF HQ in 2012. He later returned to Base Defence Squadron, serving as Second-in-Command for two years before assuming the appointment of Officer in Command from 2016 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, he served with the newly established No. 6 wing as Officer in Command for the Regimental Police Flight. In 2020, he completed the Command and Staff Course, and in 2021 he was appointed as Timbalan Pegawai Turus Administration Office, Directorate of Personnel. He was subsequently promoted to Pegawai Turus, Occupational Health and Safety Inspectorate Office, where he served from 2023 until 24 April 2026.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Asbi is married to Pengiran Doctor Rafidah Pengiran Haji Petra and is blessed with four daughters. He values a disciplined and grounded family life and in his spare time enjoys watering plants and feeding stray cats after Subuh prayers and occasionally sunset runs at Tanjung Batu with his wife.

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 7 WING

MAJOR (U) MUHAMMAD AMIN BIN YUSSOF

Major (U) Muhammad Amin bin Yussof was appointed as the Commanding Officer of No. 7 Wing on 1st May 2026. He enlisted in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 3rd January 2006 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in March 2007 upon graduating from the Royal Australian Air Force College Officer’s Training School.

In the early stage of his career, Major (U) Muhammad Amin began as a pilot at the then No. 2 Squadron, flying the Bolkow BO-105. He further developed his flying and instructional expertise upon graduating from the Helicopter Instructor Course conducted by the Republic of Singapore Air Force in 2014. He was subsequently qualified as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI), serving in No. 2 Squadron operating the Bolkow BO-105, as well as in No. 73 Squadron operating the Bell 206B JetRanger, where he was actively involved in basic rotary wing flying training.

Throughout his career, Major (U) Muhammad Amin has held several key leadership and command appointments. He served as Officer Commanding of No. 2 Squadron in 2017 and later as Officer Commanding of No. 73 Squadron in 2020. In addition to his operational roles, he played a significant role in capability development as the Head of the Integrated Project Team for the Support Helicopter Project, overseeing efforts to replace the Bolkow BO-105 fleet until 2025.

Major (U) Muhammad Amin further enhanced his professional military education by attending the Command and Staff Course in 2024, equipping him with advanced leadership and staff competencies in support of higher command responsibilities.

Major (U) Muhammad Amin is married to a loving wife and has been blessed with five children.

COMMANDING OFFICER NO. 8 WING

LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) MUHAMMAD ZABRI BIN ABDUL RAHMAN​​

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri bin Abdul Rahman (born on 23rd November 1981) currently serves as the first Commanding Officer of the newly established No. 8 Wing in the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) which is a training-focused wing that prioritizes personnel development, leadership skills, and operational knowledge. He joined the Ro​yal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in May 2005, holding an HND in Multimedia Technology and Applications from London Metropolitan University. Internationally trained, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri completed his officer cadet training at the Royal Australian Air Force’s Officer Training School in Melbourne, Australia, in 2006. 

With over 18 years of dedicated service to the RBAF, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri has held a diverse array of command, instructional and staff positions across the RBAF. He began his military career in Air Defence as a Troop Officer with 233 Squadron (Rapier) Air Regiment, before taking on the role of Administration Officer for the Air Regiment in 2010.He then served as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Deputy Minister of Defence in 2010 before returning to the RBAirF, where he took on the role of Staff Officer 2 in Occupational Health and Safety within the RBAIrF Inspectorate Unit from 2014 to 2017, implementing key safety reforms. From 2018 to 2020, he further broadened his expertise as a Directing Staff at the Leadership and Management Center of the Defence Academy (DA) RBAF, where he played a key role in training and developing emerging leaders. 

In his senior staff roles, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri served as Staff Officer Grade 2 to the Chief of Defence Force (CDF) RBAF before advancing to the role of Military Assistant to CDF RBAF from 2020 to 2024, where he provided direct support to CDF RBAF in managing high-level defense matters. 

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri’s educational accomplishments include his completion of the RBAF Junior Staff Course in 2014, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies from DA RBAF in 2020 as part of the RBAF Command and Staff Course.

In recognition of his academic excellence, he was awarded the prestigious OBOE Endeavour Award by the Australian Government, a distinction granted exclusively to outstanding graduates of the Command and Staff Course. Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Zabri is married to Sa’adiah binti Haji Maraji, and they are blessed with three children. He has a keen interest in football, strength training and reading.

PENGIRAN HAJI REDZAINI BIN PENGIRAN HAJI AHMAD

Warrant Officer 1 (U) Pengiran Haji Redzaini bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad was appointed as the 13th Sergeant Major of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) on 27 February 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Base Sergeant Major of No. 6 Wing, Support Group RBAirF, from 2024 to 2025.

He began his military career in 1998, undergoing six months of initial training. Upon completion, he was assigned to the Air Defence Squadron, RBAirF, as a Detachment Commander. During his service there, he attended various professional development courses including the Rapier Operator Course, Intermediate Air Defence Course, Detachment Commander Course, and the All Arms Air Defence Instructor Course. He also took part in the Airguard Exercise in 1999.

In 2005, he joined the Parachute Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU), RBAirF. His airborne training includes the 164th Basic Airborne Course and the 65th Basic Rigger Course in Singapore, as well as Basic Freefall, Jump Master, Jungle Rescue Team, Dispatcher, and Para Counsellor & Advanced courses. He was subsequently appointed as a Parachute Jump Instructor.

In 2014, he was selected as the Wing Sergeant Major (WSM) at No. 3 Wing, Operational Group. He has participated in parachute demonstration teams during Brunei’s National Day celebrations, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Anniversary, and international events including in the Philippines. He also served as a Joint Dispatcher in Brunei-led Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations alongside ASEAN countries.

Most recently, he attended the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Programme at the Avalon International Airshow 2025 in Melbourne on 24 February 2025.

WO1 (U) Pengiran Haji Redzaini is married and blessed with five children and two grandchildren. He enjoys motorcycle riding and camping in rural areas.
