3 June 2024 – Major (U) Pg Mohd Ady Hafriz bin Pg Mohd Yusof, representing Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) recently completed a three months ASEAN Maritime Security Research Fellowship Programme in Canberra, Australia from 24th February 2024 until 01 June 2024. The program concluded with participating fellows delivering their final presentations and receiving certificates of completion.
Major (U) Pg Mohd Ady Hafriz researched on “ASEAN Direct Communication Infrastructure: Role in Maritime Crisis Management.” That highlights the crucial role of the ASEAN Direct Communication Infrastructure in maritime crisis management, reflecting the program’s emphasis on practical and impactful studies. Throughout the program, the research fellows engaged in numerous significant activities, including participation in the 50th ASEAN-Australia Special Summit Maritime Cooperation Forum, Table-Top Exercise, Air and Space Power Conference including the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial and visits to various air and naval bases, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and the Australian Border Force.
The ASEAN Maritime Security Research Programme provided them with a platform to conduct significant academic research, thereby expanding the body of knowledge on maritime security. The program’s emphasis on critical site visits and interactions with experts in the field enriched the participants’ understanding and significantly enhanced their operational capabilities. This program exemplifies the commitment to enhancing maritime security collaboration between ASEAN member states and Australia, paving the way for future joint initiatives and strengthened regional security frameworks.

ASEAN Maritime Security Research Fellowship di Canberra, Australia yang berlangsung selama 3 bulan dari 24 Februari 2024 hingga ke 01 Jun 2024. Program tersebut diakhiri dengan peserta-peserta menyampaikan pembentangan akhir mereka dan menerima sijil pencapaian.

Disepanjang program, penyelidik terlibat dalam pelbagai aktiviti signifikan, termasuk penyertaan dalam Forum Kerjasama Maritim Sidang Kemuncak Khas ASEAN-Australia ke-50 dan latihan
tabletop, Air Space Power dan aktiviti penting lain termasuk

Program ASEAN Maritime Security Research ini memberi peluang kepada para peserta untuk menjalankan penyelidikan akademik yang signifikan dan menyumbang kepada badan pengetahuan tentang keselamatan maritim. Dengan aktiviti lawatan dan interaksi dengan pakar-pakar di dalam bidang tersebut, program ini telahpun memperkayakan pemahaman dan keupayaan operasi peserta. Program ini menunjukkan komitmen untuk meningkatkan kerjasama keselamatan maritim antara negara anggota ASEAN dan Australia, membuka jalan bagi inisiatif bersama masa hadapan dan mengukuhkan rangka kerja keselamatan serantau.
