Friday, 6 May 2016, Singapore - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RB Air F) was in Singapore for a three-day introductory visit to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), which took place from 4th to 6th May. During his visit at the Republic of Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah received the General Salute followed by the inspecting the Guard of Honour.Subsequently, Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force was awarded the Republic of Singapore Air Force Honorary Wings as a symbol of acknowledgement for the excellent support in his current and previous appointments and long standing relations between both Air Forces. Brigadier General Mervyn Tan, Chief of Air Force, RSAF presented the Honarary Wings at their Headquarters.
As part of the visit, Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar had made courtesy calls with Brigadier General Mervyn Tan, Chief of Air Force of the RSAF, Major General Perry Lim, Chief of Defence of Singapore Armed Fores (SAF) and concluded with a call to His Excellency, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Second Minister for Defence of the Republic of Singapore.
During the courtesy call, both Commander of RBAirF and the Chief of Air Force of the RSAF came to an agreement to further strengthen cooperation and mutual support between both Air Forces. Exercise Airguard is hope to foster closer bilateral relations and involvement between both Air Force Airmen and Airwomen.
Among the programmes outlined include visit to the 123 Squadron at Sembawang Air Base whereby the Commander of RBAirF received brief on the organization, roles and function of each Command Unit under RSAF, followed by a static display tour on Seaking S-70B Aircraft.
The Commander of RBAirF and his wife attended an official dinner hosted by the Chief of Air Force of RSAF. During the dinner, the Commander of RBAirF took the opportunity to convey his sincere appreciation on the outstanding relationship between the RBAirF and RSAF throughout the years and hope that both countries will continue to thrive for many years to come.
