ORGANISATION

No.1 Wing

No.1 Wing consists of 4 flying squadrons.  With each sqn has their own roles of operational requirements. All the squadrons are able to do border and marine patrol.
 
NO.11 SQN

No.11 Sqn is the oldest sqn, with the retired Bell 212, replaced by the advanced Blackhawk S70i with a total of 12 aircrafts, the capabilities of the squadron has now achieve new heights of operation requirements. It is a medium lift helicopter capable of troop lift, underslung loads and close air to ground support.

NO.12 SQN

No.12 Sqn flies the Bolkow BO105. A light observation/support helicopter. Has the capability and the only helicopter in the RBAirF that is able to launch rocket projectiles to ground targets, thus providing close air to ground support for ground troops.
NO.14 SQN

No.14 Sqn comprises of the S70A and S70I blackhawk. The role of the squadron is to train new aircrew as well as supporting the other squadrons in operational tasks. The sqn consists of the first 4 blackhawk the RBAirF has received.

NO.15 SQN

No.15 Sqn is the medium lift fixed wing propellered aircraft. Able to fly long distances to provide military aid to foreign countries, operational taskings example cargo or parachuting troops as well as marine and border patrols.
No.2 Wing


No.2 Wing was established on the 1st of September 1983 in what was then known as the Air Defence Battery. On March 24th 1995, it was reassigned to the Royal Brunei Air Force and renamed as Air Defence Squadron. Four years later, with the procurement of its Mistral System it has expanded to become an Air Regiment that is composed of 38 Squadron (now known as 238 squadron) and 33 Squadron (233 Squadron). In that same year, Airfield Ground Defence was incorporated into Air Regiment from Admin Wing of the RBAirF. No.2 Wing aims towards enhancing its operational capabilities and plans to provide 24/7 Air Defence cover over Brunei’s sovereign airspace in its future endeavour.

ROLES

  1. To provide air defence for Brunei Darussalam airspace from air threats.
  2. To provide defence for Royal Brunei Air Force Base.

238 SQUADRON

The squadron operates a Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORAD) weapon system, Mistral. It is base in Berakas Garrison.

233 SQUADRON

It was initially based in Penanjong Garrison and used to operate Short Range Air Defence system, Rapier FSB1. However, the system was decommissioned in 2010. The squadron became a supporting squadron to 238 squadron and whilst preparing for its new Air Defence System. 

236 SQUADRON

Located at RBAirF base, its key role is to protect the base from both air and ground threats. They conduct Patrols, Observation Post, Quick reaction Force, Anti Riot, Cordon and Forward Operating Base.

ENGINEERING SQN

Located at Berakas Garison. The squadron provides a supporting role in ensuring operational readiness of the Air Defence Squadron through maintenance.

No.3 Wing

No.3 Wing is a new wing that was established on 27th July 2016. Its aim is to give support and assistance to Operational Group in achieving its mission and responsibilities.

PATDU

Parachute Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU) helps to provide Jungle Rescue Team, and carrying out tasks using parachutes or tactical supply into the jungles of Brunei.

FIRE BRIGADE UNIT

This unit helps in provide emergency assistance in air accidents. 

AIR MOVEMENT FLIGHT

The Air Movement Flight personnel controls aircrafts that comes in and out from the RBAirF base. They also handles cargoes.

AIR SPACE CONTROL

This unit helps in assisting Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) in controlling aircraft that goes in our airspace. It aims is to recruit qualified Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs). 

No.4 Wing


No.4 Wing is directly responsible to the Support Group Commander. Within the No.4 Wing Headquarters are the Technical Supply Squadron (TSS), Domestic Supply Squadron (DSS), Supply Control Accounting Squadron (SCAS) and Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI).

The role and responsibility of No. 4 Wing is to provide logistical support to fulfill the needs of Royal Brunei Air Force.


Mission

To deliver sustainable logistical support that meet the requirements of the Royal Brunei Air Forces (RBAirF).

Vision

To strive for excellence as a resourceful provider for Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) logistical demands and requirements.


Role of Squadrons

HQ

HQ is responsible for managing all Administrative matters of the Wing. That includes our men’s welfare, military tests, training/courses as well as promotion.

 

Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI)

BFI is responsible to supply Jet-A1 Fuel for the RBAirF’s aircrafts.

 

Supply Control Accounting Squadron (SCAS)

SCAS is responsible for processing RBAirF’s demands and acquisitions through Directorate Finance & Acquisition (DFA), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

 

Domestic Supply Squadron (DSS)

DSS is responsible for the management of Domestic items. It consists of Clothing Store, Accommodation Store, Miscellaneous Store, Ration, Catering, Armourer, Ammunition, Armskote and Unit Equipment Table (UET).

 

Technical Supply Squadron (TSS)

TSS is responsible for inventories management of Aircrafts spare parts. It consists of Main Store (MS 1 & MS 2) for storing big & slow-moving items and Forward Store (Hangar A & Hangar B) for storing small & fast-moving items.​

No.5 Wing


There are various subdivisions under No. 5 Wing, the Maintenance Wing for the Royal Brunei Air Force. Its main role is to ensure that all operational and training requirements are properly attended to, in addition to meeting maintenance deadlines and handling aircraft maintenance related matters with great meticulousness.

The Engineering squadrons: 51, 52, 53, 54, and 55 Squadron, are directly responsible for the maintenance of their own aircraft fleet namely: S70i Black Hawk, Bo-105, Bell 206 Jet Ranger, S70a Black Hawk, and CN235 respectively. This includes all aspects of the aircraft i.e. airframe, avionics, and engine.

The squadrons are further supported by the Engineering Support Flight, where GSE personnel are responsible for the provision of all the essential equipment required to carry out maintenance tasks, FLM personnel are responsible for the movement of the aircraft on the hangar floor or out at the apron, and SES personnel are responsible for all the maintenance and provision of all survival equipment within the aircraft. TEMD is the civilian division within No. 5 Wing that also aids in major maintenance and inspection of aircraft.  

Engineering Standard Cell provides all the reference documentation that all squadrons and departments within No. 5 Wing should adhere to, whilst MPRM forecasts all maintenance activities and resources. EC & P, on the other hand, ensures that all maintenance activities are properly documented and updated accordingly.

The entire Wing is overlooked by the Commanding Officer, who is further assisted by the Second in Command, a Senior Engineering Officer, and an Officer Commanding of Engineering Support Flight.

No.6 Wing


The main role of the No.6 Wing is to manage administrative issues and base maintenance in relating to the RBAirF operations, as well as to manage personnel welfare.

Pay Flt

To ensure welfare of all RBAirF personnel went through proper processes of respective pay and allowances according to pay manual and finance regulations.

RP Flt

To protect base form any unauthorized entry.

Base Maint

To ensure all Base requirements from all units are attended according to base’s procedures.

EMS

To provide maintenance to facilities in Rimba Airbase.

MRS

To provide medical treatment facilities for RBAirF personnel.

LAD

To keep operationally fir motor transport equipment of RBAirF.

MT Flt

To provide military land mobility for RBAirF.

Dental

To provide dental treatment facilities for RBAirF personnel.

No.7 Wing


No.7 Wing HQ is responsible for the administration and welfare management of its personnel. The wing is also an establishment for Leadership courses for to fulfill the needs of the Royal Brunei Air Force.


73 Squadron

Originally it was called Flying Training school (FTS) in 1980’s and then became No 3 Sqn followed by No 63 and currently called No 73 Squadron. Its role is to provide Basic fixed wing and rotary wing training to student pilots. Apart from producing pilots for Royal Brunei Air Force, No 73 Sqn also provide training for abnitio crewman. Overall No 73 Sqn is the beginning of a pilots and crewman career.


75 Squadron

No 75 Squadron, previously known as Air Technical Training School, was established in 1985. Main role of the squadron is to provide basic and advance technical courses for all Royal Brunei Air Force technicians in order to produce dynamic and professional technicians as a means to fulfill Royal Brunei Air Force operational requirement hence realizing its vision to be the Centre of Excellence in Air Technical Training.


77 Squadron

The 77 Sqn is part of No 7 Wing in Royal Brunei Air Force based at Berakas Garisson.  This unit provides Air Defence training courses to the No 2 Wing personnel and also Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

No.8 Wing


No. 8 Wing is a new training wing of the Royal Brunei Air Force, focused on personnel development through academic courses. The wing’s aim is to enhance the skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities of all ranks within the RBAirF, ensuring the growth and development of both commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers. No. 8 Wing is divided into two squadrons, each with distinct responsibilities:

81 Squadron – Officers Development

81 Squadron is dedicated to the professional development of officers. This includes conducting essential promotion courses, which aim to prepare officers for higher leadership roles and responsibilities.

 

82 Squadron – Career Development for Other Ranks

82 Squadron is responsible for delivering career progression courses for other ranks. These courses are designed to equip personnel with the necessary skills and qualifications required for promotion and career advancement within the Royal Brunei Air Force.
