TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 18th May 2016 – A study evening organized by the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) was held last night at the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) entitled, “Royal Brunei Air Force at 50: reflections and projections”.Present as the guest of honour was First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence. Also present was the Commander of RBAF Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, members of Defence Executive Committee, Services Commanders, Joint Force Commander, Directors, Commandants, and RBAF officers.
The study evening highlighted the challenges faced by RBAirF in optimizing its capabilities and in developing its air strategy for optimal air power. In his opening speech, Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Commander of RBAirF acknowledged the fiscal environment of our government and thus it is one of the biggest challenges in fulfilling RBAirF’s four fundamental roles of air power.
A documented guideline for RBAirF’s towards optimizing its vision called Shaping Tomorrow’s Air Force in 20 Years (STAF20) was also reviewed in the study evening. The presentation was then concluded by Colonel (U) Haji Hamsani bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Commander of RBAirF.
The evening continued with a prize presentation for Essay Writing competition 2015/2016 by the Defence Academy. 1069 Lt Adibah binti Haji Mohamed took the second place whereas the first place winner was Nurul Syazana binti Hassan from CSTRAD.
RBAF study evening allows the RBAF officers to have a better understanding on challenges faced by the RBAF units. RBAF officers also have the opportunity to express their thoughts through questions and comments for the presentation.
