ISLAMABAD, 23 MARCH 2019 – The Royal Brunei Air Force was invited to participate in the Freefall Parachute Jump Demonstration in conjunction with the Pakistan Day Parade .The RBAirF delegation was led by Lt Col (U) Mohammad Irwan bin Yahya, Commanding Officer No 3 Wing. The RBAirF parachutists consisted of WO1 (U) Bahrin bin Jaludin, WO1 (U) Hazman bin Hj Ghani and WO1 (U) Zohan bin Yusop from the Parachute and Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU). This is the first time the RBAirF was given the honour to participate in the event.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Honourable Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, graced the parade as the Guest of Honour. The march past saw more than 4000 Pakistan military personnel, vehicles and equipment as well as representatives from each provinces taking part. Military delegations from Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia also participated in the march past. The auspicious event was further coloured by aerial displays, made up of the Pakistani military aircrafts’ fly past and aerobatics display by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
A total of 35 parachutists from Brunei Darussalam, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka participated in the event. The Pakistan Day or Pakistan Resolution Day, also Republic Day, is a national holiday in Pakistan commemorating the Lahore Resolution passed on 23 March 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 23 March 1956, making Pakistan the world’s first Islamic Republic.
