KG. TANAH JAMBU, THURSDAY, 17 NOVEMBER 2022 – Major (U) Arif Syazwi bin Haji Md Idris, Senior Engineering Officer from No. 5 Wing, Support Group, RBAirF, was one of the 6 recipients of the prestigious OBOE Endeavor Academic Excellence Award for their outstanding performace during the recent 12th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course. The award presentation was conducted at the Defence Academy RBAF.
Present as the Guest of Honor was Air Vice-Marshal Stephen Meredith, the Deputy Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force, who is in the country as part of the Key Leadership Engagement under the Indo Pacific Endeavor 2022. Also present was the High Commissioner of Australia to Negara Brunei Darussalam, Services Deputy Commanders, the Commandant of the Defence Academy, Head of RBAF Inspectorate Unit, Director of Personnel, Acting Deputy of Joint Force Commander and Acting Commandant of the Training Institute.
The event commenced with a recitation of Surah Al Fatihah followed by opening remarks from the Commandant of the Defence Academy and a speech by the Guest of Honour. This was followed by the presentation of the awards to the 6 recipients. The event then welcomed a reflection of the previous OBOE Award experience from one of the recipients of the 2021 edition, Major (U) Arif Shamirul bin Salleh, the Acting Commanding Officer of No. 5 Wing, Support Group RBAirF. This was followed by a short video clip showing the activities of the recent OBOE Award Educational Trip to Australia by the 2020 and 2021 RBAF CSC Cohorts.
The name of the award was to commemorate Operation OBOE 6, which was the operation conducted by the Australian Defence Force to liberate North Borneo including Negara Brunei Darussalam in the Second World War. The OBOE Award was first presented in 2018 and is in its 5th iteration. The program also involved the recipients and the alumni being invited to Australia to undergo an interaction and visit program to the Australian defence establishments.

OBOE Endeavor Academic Excellence atas prestasi yang cemerlang yang ditunjukkan semasa Kursus Maktab Turus Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) yang Ke-12. Penyampaian anugerah tersebut telah diadakan di Akademi Pertahanan ABDB.
Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat adalah Air Vice-Marshal Stephen Meredith, Timbalan Pemerintah Tentera Udara Diraja Australia, yand sedang berada di negara ini bagi

Indo Pacific Endeavor 2022. Turut hadir di acara tersebut adalah Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Australia ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Timbalan-timbalan Pemerintah Unit, Komandan Akademi Pertahanan, Ketua Unit Inspektorat ABDB, Pengarah Keanggotaan, Pemangku Timbalan Pemerintah Markas Angkatan Bersama serta Pemangku Komandan Institut Latihan.
Acara dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al Fatihah dan diikuti dengan kata alu-aluan dari Komandan Akademi Pertahanan serta Tetamu Kehormat. Ini diikuti dengan penyampaian anugerah OBOE kepada kesemua penerima. Acara kemudian menyaksikan perkongsian
reflection dari wakil penerima Anugerah OBOE 2021, Mejar (U) Arif Shamirul bin Salleh, Pemangku Pegawai Pemerintah Cawangan No. 5, Kumpulan Bantu TUDB. Ini diikuti dengan tayangan klip video tentang aktiviti semasa lawatan sambil belajar penerima-penerima anugerah OBOE 2020 dand 2021 ke Australia.
Nama anugerah ini adalah bersempena Operasi OBOE 6 yang telah dijalankan oleh Tentera Australia semasa membebaskan Borneo Utara termasuk Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam Perang Dunia Kedua. Ianya pertama kali disampaikan pada tahun 2018 dan ini merupakan edisi ke-lima ianya dikendalikan. Program ini juga mengandungi lawatan penerima-penerima anugerah ke Australia dan menjalani sesi interaksi dan lawatan ke pertubuhan-pertubuhan pertahanan.
TUDB ingin merakamkan ucapan setinggi tahniah kepada Mejar (U) Arif Syazwi atas penerimaan Anugerah OBOE Endeavor Academic Excellence.
